Sometimes, the last is first: an organization or group within it wants help with resolving a specific dispute. Following that, interest in how to avoid the problem or how to work together better in the future can arise naturally; there is some motivation to engage in building a collaborative and problem-solving culture. Aside from regulatory mandates, experience with how dispute resolution can produce positive outcomes and easier work relationships becomes the foundation for wanting to use it more often.
